In Vitro Mammalian Chromosome Aberration Test (Method followed: ISO 10993-3, OECD 473)
The purpose of the in vitro chromosomal aberration test is to identify substances that cause structural chromosome aberrations (chromosome or chromatid type) in cultured mammalian cells. This assay can use cultures of established cell lines, primary cell cultures of human or rodent origin. Cells used should be selected based on their ability to grow in culture, the stability of the karyotype (including the number of chromosomes), and the spontaneous frequency of chromosomal abnormalities.
